This is going to light up our lives!
After the 2020 edition Auckland lantern festival unfortunately grounded to a halt in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak, it is wonderful to report that the 2021 event is going ahead. [Featured Image: Auckland Council].
It was the first time in the event’s 21-year history that it had to cancel, but the 2021 edition is returning stronger than ever.
This year, we’re marking the Year Of The Ox in the Chinese calendar, with lantern-infused celebrations taking place from February 25-28.
Visitors, as always, are treated to the hundreds of beautiful Chinese lanterns, along with food stalls, music performances, a spectacular firework display, dances, craft workshops and so much more.
The family-friendly event at Captain Cook Wharf is split into two sessions each day. You can drop by at lunchtime (11.30am-3.30pm) or for a spot of dinner (5-10.30pm).
