Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke star as a pair of new friends who form an unlikely friendship in an effort to go after one another’s bullies. The type of movie you’ll either love or hate, nevertheless, a must-watch.
4. Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical
Watch Matilda with a twist in this unique musical number starring Alisha Weir as Matilda Wormwood. Finding an escape through library books, the extraordinary girl with a vivid imagination, discovers her superpower, and dares to take a stand to change her story. Certainly, among all the musical numbers are some laughable moments.
5. Pineapple Express

8. Senior Year
This unbeatable movie is another great comedy flick. When a popular high-school cheerleader (Rebel Wilson) lands into a 20-year coma before her prom, she awakens with a desire to return to high school, reclaim her status and become prom queen.
9. The Sea Beast
From the creators of Moana, animation lovers will adore this family-friendly film. It shows the life of a heroic sea monster hunter, whose life is turned upside-down when a mischievous little girl stows away on his ship.
10. Bridesmaids
This romantic comedy is arguably, one of the most hilarious ever made. It tells the story of jobless Annie (Kristen Wiig), a single woman with a messy life. It follows an FBI agent who attempts to capture a smart crook, who is the world’s most wanted art thief.

13. The War With Grandpa
New Zealanders are loving this comedy movie first released in 2020. It follows a comical tale between sixth-grader Peter and his grandfather Ed (Robert De Niro), who moves into his bedroom after being widowed. But, Peter is horrified so he plots a series of pranks to drive his strong-willed Grandpa out.
14. The Bubble
This funny film follows a film being shot at the height of the pandemic. Comically watch a lot of sneaking out, hooking up and melting down amongst the cast and crew while they quarantine at a posh hotel.
15. Dating Amber
Set in Ireland in the 1990s, Eddie and Amber fake a relationship to disguise the fact both of them are gay and stop speculation about their sexuality. Surely, a hilarious and relatable tale from Amazon Original to watch on Netflix New Zealand.
16. White Chicks
This 2004 blast from the past will have you in stiches no matter how many times you’ve seen it. It tells the tale of two FBI agents, Kevin (Shawn Wayans) and Marcus (Marlon Wayans), who land in hot water after upsetting two socialites they are escorting to the Hamptons. Then, the girls refuse to go so the FBI agents are forced to pose as the sisters.
17. Derry Girls
Another brilliant tale told from the streets of Ireland during the 1990s. The series is set amid the political conflict of Northern Ireland, where five secondary school students deal with the challenges of being a teenager at a catholic school. Indeed, one of the best Netflix comedies to watch.
18. Boy
This award-winning 2010 New Zealand independent film is set in 1984. It follows an 11-year old boy, a Michael Jackson fan with his head in the clouds. After discovering his father’s criminality and the fact he isn’t the hero he always imagined, Boy’s world turns upside-down. This movie is filled with both emotional and humorous moments offering the perfect balance.
19. Murder Mystery
Watch a fantastic duo, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston portray a New York cop and his wife who go on a European trip to try and repair their marriage. 21. Bad Boy Bunny
This 1993 Australian flick never gets old. It follows a man who accidently kills his parents after being kept in his home as a prison for 35 years. The man called Buddy played by Nicholas Hope then escapes into the real world that is entirely unknown to him. Although, there are some hilarious parts to get you laughing.
22. Superbad
This 2007 comedy blockbuster never gets old. It follows three nerdy best friends, while they navigate their last few weeks of high school. When they are invited to a huge party, they go on a mission to try and secure alcohol, to impress girls, and get some sex before college. The hilarious dialogue, McLovin’s epic one-liners and memorable characters will have you rolling off the couch.
23. I, Tonya
Starring Margot Robbie, this drama comedy film is based on a true story. It tells the real-life scandalous events of talented figure skater Tonya Harding, who was the first American woman to complete a triple axel. However, in 1994, her life turned upside-down after her ex-husband planned an attack on her Olympic competition, Nancy Kerrigan, that forced her to withdraw. Tonya’s attitude is enough to put you into fits of laughter in one of the best Netflix comedies.
24. Ted 1 & 2
This entertaining masterpiece tells the story of a teddy bear who comes to life after his owner, John, wished that he could talk as a child. However, in adulthood, Ted clings to John, and is not prepared when John’s girlfriend wants Ted to move out. This leads the way for the story to follow over two movies. 26. Sex Education
This sex comedy drama series is, arguably, the funniest show you will ever watch. Catch up on season one, two and three now which follows a teenage boy, Otis (Asa Butterfield) with an embarrassing sex therapist mother (Gillian Anderson). Otis, with help from a classmate, secretly and mistakenly sets up a sex therapy clinic at school in exchange for money.
