Prepare to be scared by a spooky Candlelight Halloween concert for the perfect plan in Auckland. It’s a thrilling 65-minute performance taking over St Mary’s in Holy Trinity on October 26. Forget the tricks and focus on the treats because it’ll be time to enjoy a night of frightfully spectacular music as candles flicker and light dances with the shadows.
Audiences will be clutching onto the edge of their seats with renditions of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, Tubular Bells from The Exorcist, and the prelude of Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho (a suite for strings). It’s set to be a wickedly good night!
Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics
The night will be dark and the tunes will be eerie as the glow of hundreds of candles lights up St Mary’s in Holy Trinity—“the thrilling guided journey into a fantastical film effects facility.” As audiences surround the brilliantly lit stage and the string quartet crosses their strings, monsters may be lurking, goblins may be hiding and aliens may be biding their time.
But what you’ll hear will be music. Candlelight’s Halloween Special includes the theme songs from Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice sounding throughout the room. At the same time, you can’t have Halloween without Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and the Rocky Horror Picture Show’s “Time Warp”.
Performed by Kulios String Quartet, ready yourself for a selection of sinister-sounding songs on Friday 26 October at St. Mary’s in Holy Trinity. There will be two spine-chilling performances on the evening, at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Treat yourself to over an hour of ghoulish sounds and then head out into the night.
