Fans of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and J.R.R Tolkien’s work in general, will be excited to hear that The Hobbiton movie set near Auckland is giving eager Middle Earth fans a chance to stay at the Hobbiton movie set, courtesy of Airbnb, for just $10 per person.
Hobbiton
Less than two hours from Auckland, in the Waikato region, on a 2,500-acre farm, a sprawling property was transformed into a movie set for three Lord of the Rings movies and the The Hobbit sequels, where you can now live out your dreams in The Shire and make The Green Dragon your local watering hole on a Middle Earth adventure, just like Bilbo, Frodo and Sam.
The experience features an overnight stay in a hobbit hole, alongside themed food and drinks, as well as a behind-the-scenes private tour of the film set. Feast like a respectable hobbit on beef and ale stew, whole roast chickens and freshly baked bread and ale. Plus, Second Breakfast, Elevenses and even some Afternoon Tea will be served daily.
“For more than two decades, we’ve welcomed millions of passionate fans to the Hobbiton movie set but never before has anyone had the opportunity to spend a night in Middle-earth,” host Russell Alexander said in a press release.
“I am delighted to share the beauty of my family’s farm and pleased to be hosting this iconic location on Airbnb for fans from around the world.”
