On December 5-6, get yourself down to Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki for their largest exhibition ever. It holds Māori Art ranging from the ’50s until the present day, exploring identity, knowledge and piece.
Toi Tū Toi Ora will hold over 300 pieces from 111 artists, with more wonderful activities planned for the community throughout the day.
On top of the stunning art, visitors can enjoy Hāngi food for sale all day to keep stomachs full and smiles on faces. Performances from Atamira Dance Company take place between 1-3pm on the hour, and attendees can also look forward to spoken word poetry from Troy Kingi [featured image].
Flax-flower making workshops, live music and conversations with artists also make up the wonderful weekend. A full schedule of activities for both days can be found at the Auckland Art Gallery website.
And, the activities are completely free! As the warm weather kicks in, this is the perfect weekend day out for the whole family. Find more information about the event right here.
