This is a shame, but for the best!
Auckland’s famous Lantern Festival has been postponed until March 4-7.
The event, which has 21 years of history in Auckland, was initially due to take place at Captain Cook Wharf from February 25-28. It comes after the new Covid-19 alert level-three restrictions in Auckland.
Celebrating the new lunar year of the Ox, organisers are confident the event can still take place at the later dates. Last year was the first in the event’s history to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
To celebrate Chinese New Year at the Auckland Lantern Festival, attendees have been asked to book free tickets so as to support crowd management and contact tracing.
Details on free tickets for the new dates are due to be released soon.
