I love my mum, sometimes I even watch the Facebook videos she sends me. But when it comes to Mother’s Day, I always end up contemplating whether a meaningless bouquet, overpriced spa treatments or sweet-smelling bath bombs count as a thoughtful gift. However, this year I’m saying “thanks for putting up with me all these years” with a well-thought-out gift. And I’ve concluded that tickets to a Candlelight concert is a thoughtful gift for mum.
If you’re not so sure, no worries. To save you from umming and ahhing, I’ve made a list of the pros and cons of gifting your mum Candlelight for Mother’s Day—both for you and her. But, if you’re already sold on the idea, go no further. Follow the link below, check out the concerts and choose what you think is her favourite. There are even Candlelight gift cards!
Pro – A night off from being a mum
What better way to honour mum than with a child-free haven disguised as a concert?
A Candlelight concert is a mini-holiday from the chaos of parent and adulthood where she can sit back and bask in the glory of uninterrupted bliss. No dirty nappies or sibling squabbles, no inbox full of emails, just mum and her favourite tunes.
Con – You have to go with your mum
Not! You can always gift her just the one ticket or two so that she can go with a friend, with dad or her partner. Even so, if you have to go with her, suck it up kid. Candlelight concerts only last around 60 minutes during which you’ll be in complete silence. So really, it’s just the travel time you need to worry about if that’s your concern.
Pro – It’s quality time
Let’s face it, watching Mum pick out outfits and fully gear up for concert night is a show in itself. But Candlelight takes it to the next level. Just picture the two of you taking your seat in a cosy venue bathed in candlelight and swaying to classical music or getting lost in the melodies of her favourite songs.
It’s a unique way to show your appreciation for Mum and one you can both look back on fondly.
Con – She might ask you to go with her (again)
Candlelight has received rave reviews from guests, saying they want to repeat again and again. And that might be the case for your mum as well. But, that’s not so bad, is it?
Pro – Mums love music too
Let’s be real, your mum was rocking out and performing air guitar solos way before you were born so she probably knows epic bands like the back of her hand. And she might also teach you a thing or two about their musical legacy.
Luckily, Candlelight is soon paying tribute to the likes of The Beatles, ABBA, Blur, Queen, and more at sensational venues across the city. With so many options to choose from, she’ll be singing your praises for years to come.
Con – She might gift it to you for your birthday
Mums are amazing but when it comes to gift-giving, sometimes it’s like they find a comfort zone and decide to build a permanent holiday home there.
Maybe this year you were hoping she could help pay your uni debt or therapy sessions. Life is tough but, honestly, there are worse gifts out there and you should feel thankful you’re not getting the same old PJs and jumper.
Pro – It’s not flowers, incense, or bath bombs
Self-explanatory, really.
Con – It’s candles
Candles seem like another cliché, but it’s not just one or two candles. We’re talking about thousands of candles that twinkle and dance to eternal melodies. They transform already emblematic venues in the city into incredibly gorgeous spaces that can enchant anyone.
Pro – It doesn’t matter where you are in the world
For better or worse, you might not live in the same city or country as your mum. But that doesn’t matter with Candlelight. You can buy tickets to these captivating performances online and send them to her as a gift. What’s more, you can also purchase the Candlelight gift card, valid for any Candlelight concert in the New Zealand. It can be redeemed as many times as your mum likes until the total value has been used up.
Con – She’ll love you too much
Chances are you’ll become her favourite child because you thought of a gift that aligns with your mum’s personality and interests. After all, reliving old songs can spark conversations and strengthen your relationship. So, perhaps a memorable Candlelight concert might be too much of a winning choice and not everyone’s cup of tea.
Overall, a magical Candlelight concert can be a fantastic gift for Mother’s Day, especially if your mum enjoys live music and has a special connection to the artist being honoured. It’s a unique experience and it combines the joy of experiencing live performances with an intimate and warm setting. So, go ahead and treat her to a night of music, memories and candles!
