Best Beaches Auckland Summer

If there’s anything positive to take from the pandemic, it’s that we’ve been encouraged to explore our own beautiful motherland, instead of jetting off across the globe. Interestingly, Auckland is blessed with a stunning coastline of endless majestic beaches to hangout at this summer. We’ve narrowed down our favourite eight beaches that are just as beautiful as a tropical destination.

1. Piha Beach

Travellers have titled this beach as one of the world’s greatest, which can be found on Auckland’s west coast. Popular with surfers and photographers, this idyllic spot is a great place to hangout this summer. Surrounded by black sand, the majestic Lion Rock, sand dunes, and a little wilderness…you won’t get bored here. Plus, there’s plenty of space for social distancing, and Te Henga Beach is right next door. No wonder it is One Of The Most Instagrammable Places In Auckland.

2. Point Chevalier Beach

This city beach makes an ideal day out. From the gorgeous sand beach and rock pools, to the lush greenland background of Coyle Park, and the historic Pohutukawa trees…it’s a great place to relax with plenty of privacy. With unbeatable views, and awesome sunsets, you’ll capture the best photos. Equally, this spot just so happens to be One Of The Best Places For A Picnic In Auckland.

3. Anchor Bay Beach

Just 80 minutes north of Auckland, this stunning beach in Tawharanui Regional Park exhibits lush blue-green waters, native birds, and makes an excellent summer day trip.¬†Take a break from the sand, and climb the headlands, which offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. Alternatively, there’s an insta-worthy rock pool that visitors love to take a dip in. Indeed, it’s the closest beach you’ll find that resembles a tropical holiday.

4. Cheltenham Beach

This famous beach in Devonport is easily accessible via the ferry if you don’t happen to live there. The calm waters make it a popular spot for adventure enthusiasts who love to go boating, supping, and other activities alike. With views of Rangitoto Island, and the Hauraki Gulf, those who love a good beach selfie won’t be disappointed.

5. Kaitoke Beach

Located on Great Barrier Island, this beach is a little slice of paradise and would give Fiji a run for its money during the summer months. Indeed, it’s the perfect summer beach getaway in your city.

6. Herne Bay Beach

As one of the best beaches in Central Auckland, it’s an excellent place to relax, read a book, or unwind after a long day, as it’s quiet compared to most other beaches.
