Shakespeare In The Park 2022

After a sell-out 25th Anniversary season in 2021, Shoreside Theatre will present Auckland Shakespeare In The Park 2022 for its 26th edition.

This live theatre show will feature Shakespeare’s The Merchant Of Venice and The Two Gentlemen Of Verona. From January 22 to February 19, immerse yourself in this laugh-out-loud Shakespearean world at The Pump House Theatre’s outdoor Amphitheatre in Killarney Park at Lake Pupuke.

Expect witty humorous moments packed with romance, themes like friendship and infidelity and plenty more from both plays.

For instance, The Merchant Of Venice follows the trials of Antonio, an ill-fate merchant who racked up some debt after defaulting on loans. Meanwhile, The Two Gentlemen Of Verona, tells the tale of Valentine and Proteus, two men caught between love, duty and family, all while facing exile, enemies and lovers in disguise.

Additionally, indulge on a DIY picnic while connecting with the actors as the beautiful summer evening turns to a star-filled night in a surreal setting.

Wonderfully, children under 12 can go for free if accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets are between $22 and $27. Purchase your ticket via the Pumphouse Theatre website.

Shoreside Theatre promises a safe Shakespeare experience in Auckland amid COVID-19. Evidence of vaccination is required. Likewise, ticket holders will receive 100% of a refund if the event can’t go ahead due to COVID-19.
