The Barden Party, an award-winning immersive theatre company, have debuted Butterfly Smokescreen on the largest superyacht in Auckland for eight weeks only.
The Butterfly Smokescreen production is based on the true story of the mysterious death of revolutionary Newport movie producer Thomas Ince – which baffled Hollywood and has remained unsolved since 1924. Ince died after celebrating his 42nd birthday with stars like Charlie Chaplin and Marion Davies – all aboard William Randolph Hearst’s yacht.
Step onboard Sea Breeze III, a 100ft superyacht with four levels at Viaduct Harbour Auckland, depicting the newspaper tycoon’s exclusive yacht from 1924. Be transported to the roaring 20s and see drama, love triangles, secrets and seduction unfold before your eyes.
On Sea Breeze III, drink champagne, be greeted by famous Hollywood stars played by actors, and become invested in the mystery through gossip, scandal and clues. Certainly, you’ll be left wondering was Ince’s death an accident or is someone responsible?
The thrilling superyacht immersive theatre show invites 30 guests per session to dress in their best 1920s attire. However, guests must be older 18. Meanwhile, each session is one hour and 45 minutes.
Butterfly Smokescreen was created by Laura Irish and Jim Fishwick. Book the experience on Eventfinda. Marion Davies is waiting to invite you!
