Indeed, many countries are trying to reduce their own emissions in the fight against climate change. And wonderfully, Auckland has been crowned the fastest city in the world going green at velocity, according to a study by Bionic.
The ranking by Bionic business experts included 40 of the most populated cities globally and revealed that Auckland scored a top mark of 78.1 out of 100. The score used 13 different metrics which includes pollution levels, meat and poultry consumption, plastic waste, electric vehicle uptake, to name a few.
The Swedish capital of Stockholm took second place, while Lyon in France ranked third. Additionally, Dublin in Ireland took fourth and Cologne in Germany finished off the top five.

However, Auckland still needs more effort to be completely sustainable green city. For instance, Auckland’s plastic waste consumption is higher scoring a unpleasant 177,314 tonnes per year compared to some of the other 10 cities such as Stockholm at 26,996.
